Master of Ministry (MMin)
32 Credit Hours (Thesis Required)
The Master of Ministry program enhances the ministry skills and knowledge of pastors, Bible teachers and lay church leaders in the local church. This major will prepare students to serve even more effectively in their churches and community. The coursework emphasizes and enhances the student’s skill sets through a deeper study of the Word of God, of theology and of historical thought and context of the church.
Master of Divinity (MDiv)
64 Credit Hours beyond the MMin or Equivalent
The Master of Divinity program prepares present and future ministry leaders to effectively lead the church and other related ministries. This program focuses on the intensive study of the Bible to provide students an understanding of biblical languages, biblical writings, scriptural exegesis and interpretation, and an extensive study of systematic theology. Additionally, an MDiv offers foundational knowledge of apologetics, leadership, and church history.
Master of Religious Education (MRE)
32 Credit Hours (Thesis Required)
The Master of Religious Education program is designed to prepare students to serve as dynamic, innovative, and motivative educational leaders in a wide range of Christian ministries. Students are equipped with the training and skills necessary to lead, develop, and design educational programs within churches, schools, and other institutional settings. The MRE curriculum includes courses in the Bible, Administrative leadership and Christian ethics, as well as specialized courses in religious education.
Master of Theology (ThM)
30 Credit Hours (Prerequisite: MDiv)
A Master of Theology (Th.M.) program is an advanced theological degree that offers students who have already earned an M.Div., the opportunity for in-depth study at an advanced level. Students completing the Master of Theology degree will be prepared for further studies at the doctoral level and/or for the scholarly enhancement of their ministerial position. Clarksville Theological Seminary offers three concentrations in the ThM: Biblical Studies, Christian Apologetics, and Pastoral Ministries.
Doctor of Ministry (DMin)
32 Credit Hours (Prerequisite: MDiv) (Dissertation Required)
The Doctor of Ministry (DMin) program is designed to enhance a student’s spiritual, intellectual and professional abilities in Christian ministry. Through this program, students will learn how to combine academic research, spiritual structure and applied ministry strategies. Students will be challenged to reflect more deeply on biblical theology, with an emphasis on an advanced level of practical application, depth of study and reflection through integration. Graduates are challenged to strive towards personal, professional and spiritual growth leading to a greater effectiveness in ministry.
Doctor of Religious Education (DRE)
32 Credit Hours (Prerequisite: MRE) (Dissertation Required)
The Doctor of Religious Education (DRE) degree is an advanced academic degree that prepares highly specialized professionals for leadership in religious education. This program is designed for individuals who aspire to become scholars, researchers, educators, administrators, or leaders in Christian education, particularly within the context of Christian schools, churches, seminaries, or faith-based organizations. This program is a rigorous educational journey designed to equip students with a profound understanding of education within a Christian context.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
36 Credit Hours (Prerequisite: Master of Theology (Th.M.) and/or Doctor of Ministry, Doctor of Religious Education or equivalent degree) (Dissertation Required)
The Doctor of Philosophy degree program is designed to prepare students to serve as Christian leaders and scholars in local churches, colleges & seminaries, and as educational leaders around the world by providing advanced training in biblical, theological and educational scholarship.Students can expect rigorous academic and professional studies that will challenge them to explore the profound truths of the Scriptures and the scholastic ideals of educational leadership, with an emphasis on utilizing these truths to make an eternal impact on their congregations, communities, and academic fields. Clarksville is pleased to offer three concentrations for our students in the PhD department: Biblical Studies, Educational Leadership, and Theological Studies.
